The Wigtown Ploughman Hotel is the perfect place to relax when visiting Scotland's National Book Town. Recently
refurbished throughout, the Wigtown Ploughman Hotel offers a high standard of comfort and fine food at reasonable rates in
the heart of one of Galloway's most attractive little towns.
The hotel is also
the perfect base from which to explore the many other attractions close by, including Britain's largest Local Nature Reserve,
Britain's largest forest park, spectacular scenery and coastline and places of interest including the Bladnoch Distillery,
Whithorn, the cradle of Christianity in Scotland and, of course, Wigtown's many book shops!
The Wigtown Ploughman Hotel, named after
the first novel of author John McNeillie whose depictions of life and conditions commonplace in Scottish rural society during
the 19th century shocked genteel sensibilities at the time, is also the perfect place to enjoy a meal.
We're passionate about food and offer
quality dishes made with the finest local ingredients at affordable prices. Specialising in fresh, homemade food.
The
menu aims to cater for every taste with salads, prime cuts and fish featuring alongside the Wigtown Ploughman's well-known
grills. A children's menu is also available.
